With everyone,
with impact.
Our cultural values
Engaging deeply. Sharing insights. Mastering private capital. We come up with the ideas that move our industry and world forward.
We are actively committed to inclusion, empowering our people to lead while constantly caring for them, our clients and our communities.
We uncover what’s new before others do and carefully consider all paths to drive our clients’ businesses forward.
Unbound by traditional firm constraints and unafraid to tackle the toughest challenges, we create what’s next in the industry.

Whether you're an associate, partner, business professional or anything in between, we want to make sure you're constantly learning and growing.
Most new associates come to us through our summer program, designed for students who have completed two years of law school. Your Schulte summer will show you what it’s like to be at the dynamic intersection of law, finance and dealmaking.
Schulte routinely recruits experienced lawyers who are attracted to our private capital focus, entrepreneurial mindset and collaborative work environment. As a lateral hire, you’ll be given the resources and support you need to quickly join the Schulte culture.
Schulte is more than a collection of world-class lawyers — our team also includes talented business professionals, and we’ve long been proud of the true partnership that exists between our lawyers and legal operations staff.

Why Schulte?
At Schulte, some of the best legal minds work together every day to help leading hedge funds, private equity funds, institutional investors, broker-dealers and other private capital market participants innovate, push boundaries and create value.
When you join Schulte, you’ll be part of a firm that has been at the dynamic intersection of law, finance and dealmaking for more than 50 years. We helped create some of the world’s first hedge funds — and count more than 100 of the world’s largest as our clients today.
Our collaborative and forward-thinking culture encourages and rewards new ideas and bold approaches. When private funds faced increased regulatory scrutiny in the mid-2000s, we became the first law firm to establish a regulatory and compliance practice dedicated to private funds. When investment fund Engine No. 1 launched the most successful shareholder activism campaign in history and won three seats on Exxon’s board, Schulte was there every step of the way as the fund’s adviser.
We’re not all things to all people. We’re Schulte.
The work you’ll do
There are several things that set us apart from the many firms that advise funds, investors and financial institutions. When you join us, whether straight out of law school or from another firm, those qualities will set you apart as well.
- Tackle the biggest problems. Much of the day-to-day legal work in the financial world draws on the same library of templates, over and over. We don’t do commodity work. Some of the biggest names in the investment management world will come to you for creative, bespoke solutions to complex problems.
- Take a holistic approach. Regardless of which practice group you work in, you’ll collaborate with lawyers from throughout the firm, exchanging perspectives and broadening your capabilities.
- Endless opportunity. We assign tasks based on merit rather than class year. That means your opportunities will keep pace with your growing abilities.
- Big Law resources and a boutique firm culture. Schulte’s clients, reach and AmLaw stats put it firmly in the upper tier of firms, and with the resources to match. But with fewer than 450 lawyers in our New York, Washington, DC, and London offices, you’ll be part of a tight-knit community.
The growth you’ll have
Doing the cutting-edge work we do at Schulte means staying ahead of market trends — and being the best lawyer you can be. But you won’t be doing it alone.
- Schulte Mentor Network. You have more than one career goal, which is why you need more than one mentor. The Schulte Mentor Network will be your own personalized network of mentors to help you get where you want to go.
- More than 150 training programs annually. You’ll have access to scores of training programs at introductory and advanced levels on a multitude of topics, including legal skills such as depositions and trial advocacy, business issues and leadership development. Most of these programs qualify for CLE credit.
- A commitment to communication. We take seriously the role of communication in your development. You’ll receive both regular, formal assessments as well as ongoing, informal feedback. We train all of our lawyers in both giving and receiving feedback so that the process is constructive and unbiased.
- Private Capital Forum. As part of the firm, you’ll be helping to host the annual Schulte Private Capital Forum, which for more than 30 years has brought the leading private capital decision-makers from around the world together for a day of panel discussions and networking.
The community you’ll join
Schulte is more than a firm — we’re a community of lawyers and business professionals who connect with each other in a range of ways.
- Associate Committee. Comprised of associates across practice groups, offices and class years, the Schulte Associate Committee is the conduit of open communication between associates and partners on issues that are important to the associate community. The Committee is often consulted on a range of topics to get the associate perspective, giving voice in real time to anything that is important to the associate community.
- DEI Committee. Our DEI Committee brings together lawyers and business professionals at all levels who are dedicated to furthering the firm’s efforts to increase diversity, promote inclusion and expand opportunities across the firm.
- Affinity groups. Our affinity groups are open to both lawyers and business professionals at the firm. The groups create safe and supportive spaces, enhance cultural awareness, facilitate mentoring and allyship.
- Activities and events. Community at Schulte doesn’t only happen while working together to solve client problems. From monthly firmwide town halls and associate lunches to firm tennis and softball teams, to yoga classes, movie nights and annual reunion dinners, you’ll have many ways to connect with your colleagues.
