Schulte Advised Kerry Dolan on Establishment of Brinley Partners
November 2021
Schulte advised Kerry Dolan, formerly managing director, principal debt and credit investments at PSP Investments, on the establishment of Brinley Partners LP (“Brinley Partners”) with seed-backing by an affiliate of a large Canadian investment manager. In addition to supporting the establishment of Brinley Partners, the seed investor has committed $1.5 billion to Brinley Partners’ first fund and an additional $1.5 billion to a co-investment program, with the authority to incur leverage, providing Brinley Partners with up to $5 billion of investment capacity, if such leverage is incurred, to make investments in senior debt (also referred to as syndicated loans, bank loans, leveraged loans, first lien loans, unitranche loans or middle-market loans), junior debt (second lien, unsecured debt or bonds), or preferred securities, with an opportunistic addition of equity linked investments included in any debt transaction.
The Schulte team advising Kerry Dolan and Brinley Partners was led by investment management partner Stephanie Breslow and special counsel Daniel Daneshrad. The team also included investment management associate Shelby Anderson; tax partner Philippe Benedict and associate Brandi Ripp; employment and employee benefits partner Mark Brossman and special counsel Max Garfield.
