Princeton University establishes the William D. Zabel '58 Professorship of Human Rights

Princeton University and the JPB Foundation (JPB) have established in perpetuity, The William D. Zabel '58 Professorship of Human Rights. The professorship recognizes and honors former JPB Board Member and Schulte Roth & Zabel founding partner, Bill Zabel, who has advocated for social justice for more than 60 years, including 20 years as Chairman of Human Rights First and currently Chairman of Immigrant Justice Corps. His most notable achievement was representing the ACLU in its victory in Loving v. Virginia, making interracial marriage legal. The professorship will enhance Princeton's ability to attract and retain talented faculty pursuing academic work related to human and civil rights at the highest levels, advance knowledge, scholarships and understanding in these fields, and further the university's overall mission of research, service and teaching.
