SRZ and Private Equity International Release Fund Formation and Incentives Report
April 2014
Schulte Roth & Zabel has partnered with Private Equity International to release Fund Formation and Incentives Report, a research study of senior private equity managers. The report provides an analysis of the issues affecting general partner operations, such as waterfall structures, key man clauses, compensation and recruitment. Based on an online survey and in-depth interviews of 130 private fund managers from around the world, it examines how managers structure funds to ensure alignment of interests with their limited partners, and how investment professionals are incentivized to achieve top performance.
The report provides private equity firms with a way to benchmark their procedures and structures in order to maintain or build their positions as industry leaders. SRZ partners Stephanie R. Breslow, Phyllis A. Schwartz, Joseph A. Smith and former Schulte lawyer Omoz Osayimwese played instrumental roles in the study, working with PEI to develop the questionnaire and then analyzing and providing expert commentary on the results based on their experience in the market.
SRZ provides counsel to some of the most active and influential private equity firms worldwide, advising funds on both on- and off-shore formation, operational and compliance issues; the full range of investments, fundings, financings, and PIPE transactions; and portfolio company financings and M&A transactions. The firm's clients include funds that focus on middle market, leveraged buyouts, crossover, mezzanine, distressed investing and industry-specific funds, including technology, media, telecommunications, biotechnology, energy, financial services, real estate and health care funds, as well as SBICs and business development companies.
