COVID-19 Legislation — Impact on Individuals

The federal and New York State governments have passed a series of new laws to respond to the emergent problems caused by COVID-19. The most ambitious of the new federal laws is the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (“CARES Act”), signed into law on March 27, 2020. Numerous provisions of the CARES Act and other laws enacted in recent weeks provide for financial benefits to individuals. This SRZ Alert summarizes the impact of the new federal and New York State laws on individuals.
