The US Department of Justice to launch official review of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre
October 1, 2024
After more than 100 years of silence from the federal government, the US Department of Justice ("DOJ") will launch an official review of the Tulsa Race Massacre and make an accounting of those fateful two days in 1921.
This is an encouraging step in the country's effort to live up to its promise of justice for all of its citizens. “We will continue to work closely with our co-counsel and @Justice for Greenwood to support this historic development to finally bring justice and accountability to our clients, the last two survivors, Mother Fletcher and Mother Randle,” stated Schulte Roth & Zabel Special Counsel for Pro Bono Initiatives Sara Solfanelli. “We intend to remain fully engaged with our clients and will cooperate with the DOJ as they conduct this formal review,” added associate McKenzie Haynes.
The firm's pro bono team also includes partners Michael Swartz, co-chair of the Litigation Group, and Randall Adams, as well as associates Sedinam Anyidoho, Lea Dyce and Erika Simonson.
