SRZ Presents the 24th Annual Private Investment Funds Seminar
January 21, 2015
SRZ will host its 24th Annual Private Investment Funds Seminar today in New York. The SRZ lawyers spearheading the seminar will cover important issues and regulatory updates impacting private investment funds. As the premier conference in the private funds industry, the event annually attracts 2,000 attendees from across the world. The event is by invitation only.
SRZ has one of the largest and most experienced groups of hedge fund lawyers in the U.S. and U.K., and during the seminar, these leading lawyers will share their market knowledge. Specific topics include: the regulatory outlook; in-house counsel risks and safeguards; investing in the energy sector; co-investments; information security; tax considerations; ERISA plan assets; estate planning and charitable giving; marketing challenges; and trading compliance, among others.
“We are incredibly proud to present our 24th Annual Private Investment Funds Seminar, where we will discuss current developments affecting alternative investment funds and provide strategic insights on issues that may arise,” said Steven J. Fredman, co-head of the firm’s Investment Management Group, which consists of 25 partners plus 60 other investment management and compliance lawyers; all focused exclusively on representing funds and their managers.
SRZ represents more than half of the 100 largest hedge funds and more than 3,000 investment funds globally. The firm provides advice on both U.S. and U.K. law to a wide variety of funds and managers located in the U.S., U.K., Continental Europe, The Middle East, Southern Africa, Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan) and Australia. The lawyers create, structure and advise on all types of funds, as well as with regulatory & compliance issues, tax matters, litigation and transactions.
In advising financial firms, SRZ lawyers work closely with in-house counsel, who face increasing regulation and government scrutiny. “At levels previously unseen, general counsel and chief compliance officers are taking on more risk and employing more safeguards as a result of the intense regulatory environment. During today’s seminar, we will delve into these complex and emerging issues,” commented Marc E. Elovitz, chair of the firm’s Investment Management Regulatory & Compliance Group.
Paul N. Roth, SRZ founding partner and chair of the Investment Management Group, will provide introductory remarks at the conference and engage in a conversation with guest speaker Edward A. Mulé, founding partner, CEO and portfolio manager of Silver Point Capital, L.P.
