Schulte Roth & Zabel announces the addition of Anthony J. Taylor as special counsel in the Investment Management Group. He is resident in the firm’s New York office. Mr. Taylor joins the firm from Och-Ziff Capital Management Group, where he served as managing director and general counsel.
Mr. Taylor focuses his practice on the formation, organization and operation of private investment funds, including hedge funds, private equity funds, credit funds, managed accounts and single investor vehicles. He also advises sponsors of funds on economic and governance issues, as well as in structuring and negotiating the terms of private investment vehicles, including private equity funds, funds of funds, joint ventures and seed arrangements.
“We are delighted to have Tony join the firm. He has served as a senior lawyer for a prominent investment firm and that capability will be a great asset to our clients,” commented Stephanie R. Breslow. “Tony further deepens our bench in offering across-the-board expertise to private funds,” said David J. Efron. Ms. Breslow, Mr. Efron and David Nissenbaum are co-heads of the Investment Management Group.
“Tony is a leading lawyer with an outstanding reputation. We are very pleased to have him at SRZ,” said Alan S. Waldenberg, chair of the firm’s Executive Committee.
As the market-leading law firm in the alternative investment management industry, SRZ is consistently placed in the top tiers in industry rankings, including Chambers and The Legal 500, among many others. SRZ lawyers provide advice on both U.S. and U.K. law to a wide variety of funds and managers worldwide. Notably, SRZ is one of only a few law firms with a dedicated regulatory and compliance practice within its private funds practice. The firm’s Regulatory & Compliance Group provides specialized expertise on issues private fund managers face in setting up, running and growing their businesses.
“I am excited to join a firm I have known for so long, with such exceptional lawyers. Having served as longtime counsel to the industry’s most influential asset managers, Schulte is without equal,” said Mr. Taylor, who holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.S.F.S., cum laude, from Georgetown University.
