Hooker Furniture Corporation Acquires Home Meridian International

Schulte advised Home Meridian International (“HMI”) in Hooker Furniture Corporation’s purchase of the business of HMI. The asset purchase agreement was announced Jan. 6, 2016, and the deal closed Feb. 2. Hooker Furniture acquired substantially all of the assets and certain liabilities of HMI for approximately $100 million, comprised of $85 million in cash and $15 million of newly issued Hooker Furniture stock. High Point, N.C.-based HMI is a global design and marketing company and leading supplier to U.S. retailers, and Hooker Furniture is a major casegoods and upholstery importer and manufacturer based in Martinsville, Va.
